Compliance

Administering qualified benefit programs is no easy task.  Complex situations and issues can occur daily.  ERISA provides that a person is a fiduciary to the extent he exercises any discretionary control in the management of the plan, responsibility in the plans administration or exercises an authority or control respecting management or dispositions of its assets.  Furthermore, fiduciary status is defined not only by reference to particular titles, but also by the authority which a person has or exercises over an employee benefit plan.

Perhaps you have more fiduciaries or fiduciary responsibilities than you thought. It is critical that you know who does what with respect to your plans. It is just as critical that you are sure that you clearly understand the role of your plan providers.  Remember as a Plan Fiduciary your personal assets can be at stake!

Arete is often called open to provide that information to employers, employer groups, associations, elected officals and media representatives.

Wellness

There is compelling evidence that a sizable portion of the billions of dollars currently spent by employers on health-related costs, is preventable by means of health promotion programming. Well planned, comprehensive health promotion programs (corporate wellness programs and employee wellness programs) have been shown to be cost-effective, especially when the health promotion programming is matched to the health problems of the specific employee population.
